Temporary Appointment
(Time limited not to exceed 1 year but could be less)

 Federal civil service Temporary appointments are defined as appointments expected to last for a specified period not to exceed 1 year.

To determine if your Federal employment is or was a temporary appointment, refer to your SF-50B, “Notification of Personnel Action”, in the section “Employee data”, block number 24 (“Tenure”).  Temporary appointments are denoted by a “0” in that block.
