Projects & Initiatives

  • USDA will develop departmental regulations and guidance to address the requirements of EO 13423 and the Council on Environmental Quality implementing instructions on fleet transportation.

  • USDA will establish, as part of the USDA Sustainable Operations Council organizational structure, a departmental working group for EO 13423 fleet issues to provide recommendations to the Council on implementation processes and procedures.

  • USDA will conduct a review of USDA's FY 2005 and FY 2006 petroleum fuel, exempt fuel, and alternative fuel reported in FAST to confirm its accuracy or make corrections as needed in consultation with Department of Energy FAST program representatives. This review is necessary to ensure valid baselines for USDA to be measured on progress in meeting EO 13423 requirements on increased alternative fuel use and decreased petroleum use.

  • USDA will develop and maintain a database of USDA's alternative fuel vehicles identified by DOE as being within a five to ten mile radius of E85 fueling sites.

  • USDA will use the database information as the focus of targeted departmental efforts to educate drivers and apply management oversight to use of E85 fuel in these identified vehicles.
