The Washington Area
Service Center exists
to create, maintain
and protect the work
environment of USDA
employees and visitors
in the Washington DC
headquarters buildings.
This
umbrella organization
delivers services through
two business components:
The Office of the Chief,
and the Operations and
Maintenance Branch.
Office of the Chief
The Office of the Chief
provides overall direction,
guidance and coordination
of the various business
components, as well
as asset management
and administrative control
for the Service Center.
The Office of the Chief
also provides oversight
of the contractor-operated
Child Development Center
at the Sidney R. Yates
Building. The Chief,
Washington Area Service
Center is Earl
Brittingham. The
Office of the Chief,
Washington Area Service
Center is located in
the South Agriculture
Building, Room S-208,
and he can be contacted
on 720-2777.
Operations and
Maintenance Branch
The Operations and Maintenance
Branch provides building
and office services
through subsidiary business
components. Business services offered by the Operations and
Maintenance Branch include:
alterations to existing
workspaces; maintenance
and repair of building
equipment inventories;
office cleaning services;
environmental controls
for heating, cooling
and lighting; interior
and exterior landscaping;
snow removal; pest control;
recycling; and concessions
management for eateries.
The creation of new
offices from old workspace,
or minor alterations
to existing workspaces,
is accomplished through
reimbursable agreements
from agency administrative
budgets to the Washington
Area Service Center.
Interior design and
construction design
can be obtained upon
request and included
as an element of any
renovation when needed.

controls in their individual
workspaces, or wishing
to obtain any of the
other services offered

We especially solicit
employee reports of
restroom plumbing problems
and any other facilities
maintenance items they
may observe.
